NEW APP beta tester feedback
Terry said to put it here so i am :) The new app shows promise however there are a significant design flaws for users i would like to outline along with things that do work. Overall: - Permanant staff will eventually get used to the change however casual staff (especially substitute teachers) will find the app difficult to use. - Other images (especially ID images) are way too small and often make it difficult to distinguish students details. Please make these bigger. - Everything is too cramped and is visually overwhelming. Users without steady hands or who struggle with fine motor skills will constantly be misclicking and getting aggitated. Search Function: + Recents im neutral on however it would be great if this could be "Frequents" so it shows your frequently or saved searches. - Please bring back having users at the top and events/articles etc at the bottom!! Its been 2 days and im already sick of scrolling to the very bottom to find people. - Same as the timetable, result lines are so close together that on smaller phones or users as previously outlined will struggle. + Great to have student attendance viewable from the search entries! saves having to click into a students profile to check if they are in class and will save a lot of trips to classrooms only to find the student isn't there are staff forgot to check. Student Profiles: + Backpack is nice, I haven't used it yet but im sure i will throughout the year. + Having the chronicles page be the same as the online version is fantastic. Much better than only seeing a topic and having to go into the entry to read it. - Timetables are now a lot harder to read visually, the information is all the same however the layout change will make it slightly clunkier for the end users. + Profile overview is simple and having the added details is helpful. Staff Profiles: - Staff Backpack makes no sense, staff are not likely to have work due or recent absences. Could this be switched out for learning task summaries like we have on web compass? - Staff profiles main page is fine but again very cramped. theres so much space at the bottom that suggest the page could be better designed. Classrooms: + Thankyou so much for including rooms in the search finally. it was so tedious to go into webapp every time i needed to check a room! - Reading the room's timetable is absolutey chaos. Visually overwhelming, hard to distinguish sessions, hard to see when the room is free etc. Can this please be redesigned entirely, even if its just a day view timetable. + Love having the email teachers button here. Its very promanent. I havent used the function so cant provide any feedback on its usability and design. Class Pages: + Sleek design that is simple to navigate - Lots of wasted space that could be used to change the badding of sections. + The font size for Learning Tasks and Class Resources is much more appropriate than the size for the teachers names + Marking the roll is a little cheesy visually but otherwise fine.

Update My Details: Apply Household Address Changes to All Family Members
Problem: When a parent updates their address within Update My Details, each parent in the household must update their own address separately, and one of the parents must also update the address details for each of their children. This can result in inconsistent household address information when a parent forgets to update all family members or assumes the change will automatically apply to everyone in the household. Schools are then required to follow up with families to confirm whether the address change applies to all household members, creating additional administrative effort. Suggested Solution: Where a parent from a non-split family household updates their address details within Update My Details, provide a checkbox such as "Apply this address change to all family members in this household". When selected, the updated address should be applied to both parents and all associated children within the household. For split-family arrangements, the checkbox should either be hidden or only apply the change to the children for whom the parent has custody or responsibility. Benefit: This enhancement would simplify the address update process for parents, reduce the likelihood of inconsistent address records across family members, improve data accuracy within Compass, and significantly reduce the administrative workload associated with reviewing and following up address changes. It would also provide a more intuitive user experience by aligning the update process with how families typically expect household address changes to be managed.
