This would be a great feature in general. When I'm on the phone with parents, I often send them SMS links, email adresses, websites and details via SMS so I don't have to read it out to them risking mistakes. Parents will often try to reply though so it would be good to have a means of receiving those replies.
We find that parents are significantly more receptive to SMS's so having the ability to just communicate back and forth would be amazing.

Hey everyone - in terms of Attendance SMS messages, just wanting to ensure you are all aware of the One Time Link's that can be added to the SMS?
Parents can then just click on the link to add the note quickly - no review needed!
For more personalised messages over and back - we have an internal messaging feaure (Connect) which allows you to message parents directly which goes into their app and you have an inbox to review!

Jerome Muldoon Not all text messages are about attendance. For example we may text regarding an urgent behaviour issue when we haven't been able to contact or if a student needs something dropped to school.

Denise Jackson Hi Denise - this is part of the Attendance SMS template. So in Administration Tools, Attendance SMS Configuration, if you modify your template, and click into the Parent SMS tab, you will see that you can add a {attendanceUrl}.
This will add a link to your daily attendance SMS that you send to parents requesting explanations- and the parent can simply click on the link to add the note. No login needed!

Erin Baker I highly recommend you take a look into Connect :) it will allow you to message parents directly via Compass.

Jerome Muldoon We’ve recently transitioned to Compass this year, and we’re finding that many parents are still replying directly to SMS messages. In our previous platform, parent SMS replies were captured and visible within the system, so this behaviour had become quite common.
Since moving to Compass, replies to SMS are not received, however parents continue to reply out of habit — often instead of using the action/link provided in the message. This is resulting in missed communication from parents who believe they have responded. I feel Connect would not be good in this situation as parents just want a quick reply and go on with there day.

Jerome Muldoon. LOL I know what you mean now. Yes I have done this for events and forms etc but straight from SMS itself. This might be a great option for the schools to utilise for the repetiveness reminders.

Where is Administration Tools in Compass? It doesn't appear in any menu item I select.

Stavroula LAMBRIANIDIS You must have the 'ConfigureBase' or 'Configure' permission to open the Administration Tools page. Also, Administration Tools is under the Settings menu (Cog) > System.

This would be a highly effective way to reduce unexplained absences. I spend a lot of time calling families to follow up on unexplained absences and having this facility would reduce the need for this greatly. I would really like to see this implemented!
