Hi All, The Attendance Visibility page (Configure/AttendanceCodeVisibility.aspx) now allows this to be turned off from parent entry. To change which attendance notes are able to be selected via Kiosk, online by parents etc. Go to Administration Settings > Attendance Code Visibility.

This is still an issue. If you just have parent choice on the kiosk and state use this when just running late to school, missed bus, etc maybe that would help.

We have many parents mistakenly using this option. An additional simpler description that flags this as relevant to First Nations peoples would be helpful. Changing the incorrect reason for absences is increasing our workload at the moment.

Sorry Business should only appear for students who are flagged as First Nations/ATSI - this would remove the issue for the rest of our parents

We put out a newsfeed post to try and bring it to the attention of families. But still it's only effective for those who actually read it.

It gets interpreted as - "Sorry - we had other business" rather than parents understanding it's purpose - despite the description they don't read.

Luke Compston I wonder if it's worth having sub categories. Sorry business could be added as a sub category under 'bereavement'. Might hopefully deter people from using it that don't need to

I think simple parent-facing descriptions against each one are needed. This would help solve the issue.

Amos MILLS it might help if people read, but I think this level of cultural awareness is still lacking in many! I think it needs to be removed altogether for school entry only.

Amos MILLS - I don't think our parents have a high literacy and understanding level here in regional Vic. They would not read anything too detailed.

Yes I notice this all the time. I wouldn't say to necessarily hide it but change where it is on the options list
