(Chronicle) Include content directly in Email for Staff when they receive a Chronicle notification

Yes - we need notifications when people add additional comments. It is VERY hard to track what follow-up for students has happened or hasn't!

Chronicle Notifications
Ashdale Secondary College
Currently when a Chronicle notification email is sent out of Compass to a staff member regarding a student incident or information, the staff has to click the blue button to read it. Staff would prefer if the content/message showed directly in the email instead.

Hello Jerome, as others have said, all would be great but Chronicles ideally would i think be the priority.
If parents are receiving too much communication, they are less likely to go and open Compass to view the information.

Katherine Robshaw Hi Katherine!
This one is more focused at staff notifications.
For parents with Chronicle - all of the details can already be included in the communications sent to them. You just need to add the placeholders to the template on the communications tab for parents. This would then include all of the details that you have chosen to add to the comms.
If you need a hand setting this up just let us know and we can assist!
Thanks,
Jerome

I agree all, but if we have to choose chronicle then newsfeed

I would suggest all. However if there has to be a priority, Chronicle would be placed first.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your suggestion.
I am currently preparing this for review - can you please let me know which notifictions in order of priority you wish for all details to be included;
- NewsFeed
- Chronicle
- Issue Tracker
etc
Many thanks,
Jerome

Jerome Muldoon Hi Jerome,
In regards to Chronicle I would suggest an option similar to how they are displayed normally when you look at the student's profile with a toggle for "show in notifications"
This way it's flexible enough to provide context for someone receiving the notification to decide if they want to open it or just need to be aware of it.
But depending on the type of field, if there is no data don't display/include it.

Luke Compston Thanks for this Luke!
I like this idea. It could be a safe middle ground of allowing schools to choose which type of information gets sent - which was always our concern with this one in the past.
Do you think on the flip side it runs the risk of us developing this feature - and with the extra step now of schools having to review and update all their templates, and making things overly complicated or complex?

Jerome Muldoon If it was created off by default, and schools who were interested needed to turn each field on for their templates that would most likely cover it.
Not every template uses notifications, although needing to update templates would run into this issue -https://compasseducation.canny.io/product-suggestions/p/when-saving-a-chronicle-template-make-it-so-when-you-close-the-template-window-i

Luke Compston Great pick up - thanks Luke.
I will prepare this suggestion for roadmap. Keep your eyes peeled for updates here!

Jerome Muldoon Hi Jerome, Newsfeed would be the priority for us.

Yes I agree. Should be a notifications tab

This would be extremely valuable for staff who get lots of approvals / notifications, rather than 50 emails the same saying "Click here". Not every notification needs an action.
